Show Page 6 Minutes of meeting held Sunday at 10:30 a.m., May 21, 1939. President Brown asks d the Recording Secretary pro tem to read the following reconnnendation which comes to the Convent ion from the Board of Directors at their meeting held Satur day morning, May 20, 1939: "The President Western next announced that :Mrs. Cliffor·d, Chairman of Regional Conference for 1940, had suggested that Regional Conference be financed by means of a each club men ber in the the the 10¢ tax Conference. A discussion of the matter followed. Maud Neeley Leaver explained how the Western Regi onal Conference held a t the Grand Canyon was financ ed, and Elizabeth Crawford explaire d how the l1iestern Regional Conference held at Vest Yellowstone was financed. Jeanette Rosser moved on that the Board r-e commend to the general session that th e method raising the money for expenses of Regional Conferences by im posing a tax on each clu? member be disapproved." of Lula Clegg moved of Directors. the Board. that the Convent ion accept the reccrmrnendation of the Board spoke in explanation of the recommendation of Mrs. Leaver Dr. Morris seconded the motion. The motion carried. The Recording Secretary pro tern was instructed to so notify Mrs. Margaret Clifford of the action taken by the Convention with regard to financ:ing the Regional Conference. Treasurer Claire Haines moved that we send our incoming state president to the National Convention at Kanss City, with all expenses paid. The motion s seconded by Mae E. Bramwell and carried. President Brovm stated that the National By-Laws provide that we shall furnish one member on the National Nominating Committeee. Seconded President Brown announced that she had received a compilation of data regarding candidates for national offic es which represented the report of the Candidate Committee appointed at the last Biennial Convention to receive reports of candidates for national office, to compile such reports and send them out to the various states for consideration that there 'WOuld be the prior to convention. She explained opportunit y to make nominations from the floor and that She not represent all the candidates in the field. compilation did urged all who vrer e interested to look over the file on cndidates. Fresident Brown announced too t she had received Le tters from New York City and Tennessee bidding for the 1941 National Convent ion and asked that if any preference for the next convention meeting place was existent, that it be expressed at the afternoon meeting.
