Show ci'i C 7S ] The World's gre;at Architect is our Supreme Maft and the unerring Rule he has given us, is that by which we work. Religious Difputes are never fuftered^ in the Lodge 5 for as Mafons, we only purfuc. the univerfal Religion '• or the Religion of Nature. This is the Cement which unites Men of the rnoft different Principles in one facred Band, and brings together thofe who were the rnoft di-ftant from one another. There are three general Heads of Duty which Mafons ought always to inculcate, viz. to GOD, our Neighbours, and Ourfelves. To G O D , in never mentioning his N a m e but with that reverential A w e which becomes a Creature to bear to his Creator, and to look upon him always as the Sum-mum Bonum which we came into the World to enjoy 5 and according to that View to regulate all our Puriuits. To our Neighbours, in aaing upon the Square, or doing as we would be done by. To Ourfelves, in avoiding all Intemperances and Ex-cefTes, whereby w e may be rendrcd incapable of following our Work, or led into Behaviour unbecoming our laudable Profession, and in always keeping within due Bounds, and free from all Pollution. In the State, a Mafon is to behave as a peaceable and dutiful Subject, conforming cheerfully to the Government under which he lives. . He is to pay a due Deference to his Superiors, and-from his Inferiors he is rather to receive Honour with ffomc Reluaance, than to extort it. . . * He is to be a M a n of Benevolence and Charity, not fitting down contented while his Fellow-Creatures, Jut much more his Brethren, are in Want, when it is in his Power (without .prejudicing himielr or family; to relieve them. . .. , TWrn-fim In the Lodge, he is to behave with all due ^cornm, G 2, r |
