Apprentice, unlets he has fufficient Employment for him, and unlefs he be a per- j feet Youth, having no M a i m or Defect in his Body, that m a y render him uncapable of learning the Art, offer-ving his Mailer's Lord, and of being made a Brother, and then a Fellow-Craft in due Time, even after he has ie'rv'd fuch a T e r m of Years as the Custom of the Conn-' try directs 5 and that he ihould be descended of honeit Parents, that fo, when otherwife qualified, he may arrive to the Honour of being the Warden, and then tya-per of the Lodge* the Grand Warden, and, at Length the Grand Mafter of .all the Lodges, according to hu Merit No' Brother can be a Warden until he has pafs'd the Part of Fellow-Craft, nor a Mafter, until he has*acted as a Warden, nor Grand Warden, until he has been Mafter of a Lodsre, nor Grand Mafter, unlefs he has ken Fellow-Craft before ins Election, who is alio to be no-bly born, or a Gentleman of the beft Faftion, or fome eminent Scholar, or fome curious Architect, or other/ tiff, defended of hdneft Parents, and who is of fibular great Merit in the Opinion of the Lodges> And, for th better, and eafier, and more honourable Difcharge o H Office, the Grand Mafter has a Power to chufe his ow Deputy Grand Mafter, who muft be then, or muft have been formerly, the Mafter of a particular Lodge, and has the Privilege of acting whatever the Grand Matter, to* Principal, ftiould act, unleis the laid Principal be preient, or interpofe his Authority-by a Letter.
