September IS,1970 Army Tests 2nd Pershing Missile Special to The Tribune BLAND ING, San Juan County - The U.Sf Army Thursday successfully fired a second Pershing artillery missile in the 16 rounds scheduled for the fall series of firing at Black Mesa, 15 miles southwest of Blanding. The Pershing was fired by tfqops of the second battalion, 44th artillery, Ft. Sill, Okla. The missile left the launcher at 2 p.m. and impacted on White Sands Missile Bange, New Mexico, some 400 miles southeast of Black Mesa. Thursday's firing completed test activities in the Blanding area for this week. There will be no further road blocks until the resumption of the fall series at the end of this month.
