Show Haight- -4 19th Held a meeting of the citizens at which some spirited the strongest terms t heii resolution s ere adopted expressing a : probation of the course pursued by Governor Young and Legislativ e Assembly. Just as we were about to close the meeting Elder Amasa i Lyman came and wished me to return home with him, as Col. Kane would be at my house on his WA.Y to Salt Lake City on business of importanc e . Ve started about 3 o ' clock p . m. and arrived at Harmony about 12 o ' clock at night , Bro . Lyman was mucn weared . ln 20th. Arrived at home about 11 o ' clock a . m. found Col . Kane very anxious to proceed on his jouraey. I sent h Bro . Higbee to Parowan to obtain a team of mules to take him to Salt Lake City. 21st . Started with Bro . Lyman and Col . Kane to Parowan. Saw them safe off, and got instructio ns from Bro . Lyman tn respect to raising a company to go 1ith him to the Colorado when he returned . He also wished me to be one of the company. 22nd . Attended meeting and preached in the prayer circle . 23rd. Went to Harmony to attend a wedding party, and married John R. Davis and Sybil Grows (Groves?) and nlliam Frame and Morse . Had a splendid dinner, in the evening, had a very interestin g dance . 24th Stormed very bad in the morning, had a dance after dinner. Returned home , weather cold and windy. March 1st. Started with several of the Brethren for the Rio Virgin. Stayed at Harmony, held meeting in the evening , preached to the saints . A good feeling prevailed . 2nd . Arrived at Washingto n, held a meeting and preached in the evening . A good spirit prevailed . 3rd. Rode over the farming land, and went to Fort Clara, found the brethren enjoying a ~ood spirit . Preached in the evening . Stayed at Bro . Crows . 4th Returned to Nashington and rode up the Rio Virgint some six miles , to see some of the Brethren that had come from california that ·1ere locating a far, • .... ;th. ~eft Washingto n for home . The wind blowed very hard , bad traveling . Arrived at Harmony, stayed at Bro . J . D. Lees . 6- Arrived home, found all well . 7th Sunday. Attended meeting. Capt. Hunt preached in the morning . 8th. Worked on water ditch. 10th Received a letter from Prest . Young to send a company to explore White Mountains to find a nlace for the Saints to hide from the Gentiles . |
