Show . --1 .Extracts tran the mou:trnal ot Isaac c. ~ight May (1857) I moved out ot my house in the tort, up to the Iron works, and began to build a house on the new city plot, and went down to the Bio Virgin with a canpany and located a ta:rm and city plot,and organized a ~ranch and appointed Robert Covington to preside. August. I was elected a Represent ative to the next LegielatiY e session also Major of the second :ea.t•llion of the 10th Regiment, also accanpani ed Elder G.A. Snith on a tour to the Rio Virgin and santa Clara. September . we started the iron works. Bad received word to suspend all business and take care of the grain as the United states was sending troops into the 'l'erritory to oppress the saints, and force oftic~rs upon us contrary to our wishes and the constituti on. he last ot the month started tor contere4c e. uctober. Attended conferenc e. Hid a good time, and returned much retresh~d , and went down to the .1110 Virgin and visited the saints and preached to them, also at .tJarmony • .November. b'pent my time mostly at bane building. Also at the request of ~rest. Young went and employed an Indian interpret er to go to san Bernardin o w1 th sane gentile m~chants and apostates to see them sate through to ualitornia .
