Show it again! The young Janni stared at her mother, stunned. Dr'Anya had never before spoken a harsh word to her. The child's wide-open eyes filled with tears. "But, marry, 'twas for thee I did it!" she cried. '"Twas for thee!" Then she tore herself from her mother's grip, ran out of the Hall, and pounded down the back road into the east fields, sobs tearing through her throat. Run away she would indeed...to The Jumbles. And by the Saints, never, never would she return! Back in the Hall, Dr'Anya sank down on the bed next to the dead body of her partner and put her head into her hands. Outside, the frenzied DragonGoose screamed clamorously into the window. The woman groaned. Dr'Anya, of course, fed Janni's little FoxChuck/BauerBird every day and knew full well her daughter's astounding ability at electric field transference. Of course, the child had loved her FoxChuck so much that she had transferred his field into the BauerBird. A pity, that. An aberration of the first order, mayhap. And full confusing to the BauerBird to find another entity in his dear little self. But...but, Dr'Anya thought, for the child to do it to a human being! Aye, but she should be flogged for letting her daughter get to this point. She should b e . . .. The DragonGoose had begun to rush at the window in a rage. "Sorry I am indeed, Armand," she whispered. "Thou didst not altogether deserve such a fate!" She went back to the window and looked out at the half-mad bird who had received so precipitately just a moment before Armand's recently liberated electric field and who for all intents and purposes was Armand himself, transformed.
