Show 1275 Josephine, Apt. 4 Denver, Col. 80206 303-377-0331 January 1, 1977 Paul Salsbury, Chairman Utah Chapter Sierra Club Campus Planning Utah State University Logan, Utah 8432 2 Dear Paul: Enclosed is the reply from Secretary Andrus ard Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner, Higginson, to my report and questions on the Programmatic EIS of the Bureau for Colorado River Water STorage Projects. I left Utah to spend Christams in Denver and then go back to Wisconsin. However, I have requested that I be allowed to be part of the conflict resolution team on the Uintas meeting at Bottle Hollow} January 20 and 21. Since I will be staying here in Denver with a daughter recently released from. the hospital, I will also plan to meet with the Bureau staff when we can work it out, for me to return to SLC and to Prove Earlier on, Dr. El Ashry, EDF, had warned me that it might be months before I heard from Secretary Andrus. Since I have had a rather prompt rep,ty with concrete suggestions for getting ansxvers to my questions on the C.U.P. , we ought to determine implications of this proposed meeting with Bureau people, if there are such. I do not plan to meet. with Crandall or whoever, for P.R. reasons, and will keep pursuing issues I consider important, until I find satisfaction for my concerns. I have not had opportunity to consult with Denver or Ft. Collins people due to the holidays but this coming week I will talk to people who already have concerns to see what they suggest we do or make of these meetings, I do believe we need to broaden the concerns we have, as has been done in the El Ashry/Weaver article on the Colorado River in Trout Unlimited. Ifll see what I can do to obtain and evaluate some cost-benefit figures - if this seems desirable. You consider the value of pursuing meetings with the Bureau and objectives and I111 get back to you soon. Since Ifm running out of available funds, I cannot call long distance now. However, if it is needed, you can reach me at the above address or number - at least through January. I tried to reach Way^e Petty before I left SLC, in vain, so have not followed up on the initial meeting the Sierra Club had with him and with Jerr^r Kinghorn. Keep me posed if and w ^here I'm needed. Trust you had a good Christams holiday. Dorothy |
