Reason no deadline has been set is that ample power is still available and although most of the power is beina sold, a good oortion of it is contracted or otherwi s_B being sold on a withdrawable basis. Power has not been contracted tor by Preference customers quite as fast as anticipated, Question, Is it now anticipated that such a deadline will be established in the forseabie or near future? Answer: No. It would appear that it will be Into the early 1970's, such as . 9 7l- -' or 1971 before it will be necessary for the bureau tc set a deadline. Then, the city I would be given approximately 6 months notice, \ Questions; What is the total generating capacity of Glen Canyon Carr: with (A) Present Water Level (B) Under FuH Heed (C) With present water outlet requirements (0) At what percent of designed capacity is Glen Canyon now Operating? Answer; When you say Glen Canvon, you should actually be saying Colorado River Storage Proiect because power is available from sources other than just Glen Canyon, F :aminq Gorge supplies power and there are other power plants to be added as time goes on. The answer to (A) is that Glen Canyon has 8 units which at present water level and. outlet committments are capable of 85 Megawatts each for 3 total of 680 oresent MW capacity. Add to this Dresent capacity at Flaming Gorge, of llu MW. These units ar>' all fluctuating around the area of }0% of capacity at present low !e.<.:. f© answer (8) the Glen Canyon units -.ill have MW-.capacity of ii2 per machine under full head for a total of 896 MW plus \10 or more at Flaming Gorge for _ total of 1006 MW and to answer (C) tne Operation is at about dd*. of capacity, but you must remember that it is aow in a filling process with a total of 7 million acre feet impounded against a capacity of 2b million acre Feet to be impounded, and to answer (0), ore must __b remember that one reason _.,en Canyon Is 1 be less during this fit line cycle is that Glen Canyon has lease enouoh water to satisfy Lake Meade requirement, otto pay those requirements in each or \n generated power. to 70% when i t couId to re-t has So the water has a cash value, the requirements are there and the commit troents to downstream nave to b« met. Glen Canyon simply has to satisfy Hoover definfancies by cash payments, generating power for their 'ines or releasing water. |
