Show PART III CURRENT WATERSHED CONDITIONS AND PROBLEMS, AND EFFECTS OF PROBLEMS Flood and sediment damage on forest and rangeland Average annual flood and sediment damage to 173,000 acres of forest and rangeland is estimated to be $81,000. Damages occur to improvements, equipment, and public facilities. Flood and sediment damage to cultivated cropland and pasture A great percentage of these lands are very susceptible to flood water damage due to their location on flood plains. The largest upstream damage comes from the loss in yield of crops and pasture from snowmelt flooding and the more infrequent short duration but high intensity localized thunderstorm. It is estimated that an average annual damage of $835,000 occurs to 348,000 acres of these lands. Heavy snowmelt 45 |
