Show Appendix D LEGISLATIVE RECORD CENTRAL ARIZONA PROJECT 82nd CONGRESS, 1951-1952 S 75 - The Central Arizona Project bill reintroduced by Sena- tors Hayden and McFarland in the first session. ------Voted out of the Senate Interior and Insular Affairs Com- mittee, without hearings and in executive session, by a vote of ten to two, on January 30, 1951, and sent to the Senate floor on March 12, 1951. ------Passed by the Senate on June 5, 1951, by a vote of 50 yeas and 28 nays. HR. 1500 and 1501-Central Arizona Project bills identical with S. 75, introduced in the first session by Representatives Murdock and Patten of Arizona. ------Hearings were held by the House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee on February 27, 28 and March 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and April 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and April 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18 and June 5, 1951. ------There was no final committee action on these bills, and they died with the 82nd Congress. ------The House committee, however, also held hearings onS. 75 on September 25 and October 2 and 10, 1951. -----There was no final House committee action on S. 75, and it also died with the 82nd Congress. SJ. Res. 26 - This joint resolution, introduced by the senators from California and Nevada, asked that the Colorado River controversy be taken before the United States Supreme Court, and that the United States be made a party to the litigation. Permission of Congress was necessary to make the United States a party. ------Introduced in the first session, it was referred to the Senate Interior Committee. ------No hearings were held, and it died with the 82nd Con- gress. |
