Show Appendix C LEGISLATIVE RECORD CENTRAL ARIZONA PROJECT 81st CONGRESS, 1949-1950 S. 75 - The Central Arizona Project bill, introduced by Sena- tors Hay den and McFarland in the first session. ------Hearings were held by the Senate Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs on March 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31 and April 2, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 26, 27, 28, 30 and May 2, 1949. ------It was approved by the committee on July 1, 1949 by a vote of nine to three, and sent to the Senate floor August 3, 1949, after a litigation amendment had been written into it. ------It was passed by the Senate on February 21, 1950, by a vote of 55 yeas and 28 nays. SJ. Res. 4 - Resolution to take the Colorado River controversy before the Supreme Court, introduced in the first session by Senators Downey, Knowland, McCarran and Malone. ------Hearings were held simultaneously with S. 75 by the Senate Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs. ------It was disapproved by the committee, but part of its pro- visions were included in revised and amended form in S. 75 as passed by the Senate. HR. 934 and 935 - The same as S. 75, these two bills were introduced in the House in the first session by Representatives Murdock and Patten of Arizona. ------Hearings were held by the House Public Lands Subcom- mittee on Irrigation and Reclamation on March 30, 31 and April 1,2,4, 5, 6, 9, 27, 28 and May 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 30, 31, and June 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7, 1949. ------There was no final committee action, and both bills died by number with the 81st Congress. ------However, in April, 1950, the same subcommittee began hearings on S. 75 as it had passed the Senate in February.
