Show -2- 70th Congress S. 728 1st Session In the Senate of the United States May 28 (calendar day, May 29), 1928 Ordered to lie on the table and to be printed AMENDMENT Numbered 16 Intended to be proposed by Mr. Ashurst to the bill (S. 728) to provide for the construction of works for the protection and development of the lower Colorado River Basin, for the approval of the Colorado River compact, and for other purposes, viz: On page 6, line 12, after the word "revenue," insert the following: "Provided, however, That after investments made by the Government shall have been returned, the plants for the generation of electric power, if constructed by the United States, together with appurtenant water rights, equipment, and structures, exclusive of the dam, shall pass to the States of Arizona and Nevada jointly, to be managed and controlled by them as they may decide at the time of transfer; operations to be conducted subject to the provisions of the Colorado River compact. |
