Show __2__ 70th Congress S. 728 1st Session In the Senate of the United States May 28 (calendar day, May 29), 1928 Ordered to lie on the table and to be printed AMENDMENT Numbered 15 Intended to be proposed by Mr. Ashurst to the bill (S. 728) to provide for the construction of works for the protection and development of the lower Colorado River Basin, for the approval of the Colorado River compact, and for other purposes, viz: On page 5, line 19, strike out all down to and including line 25, and down to and including line 4, on page 6, and insert the following: "(b) Before any money is appropriated for the dam at Black Canyon or Boulder Canyon, or for the hydroelectric plant at or near said dam authorized by this Act, or any construction work thereon done or contracted for, the Secretary of the Interior shall make provision by contract, in accordance with the provisions of this Act, for the right to the use of water and appurtenant works and privileges necessary for the generation and distribution of hydroelectric energy, and/or for the sale of a sufficient amount of the electrical energy to be developed at the plant aforesaid, and for the storage of water for irrigation and domestic purposes, adequate in his judgment to insure payment of all expenses of operation and maintenance of said dam and power plant and incidental works |
