Show -2- 142 A verbal report from the Audit Committee stating that they had made a study of the December 31, 1941 John Tittley audit report, and that they found same to be in order and recommended that the District accept the report. It was moved by L.A. Hauser, seconded by Fred J. Toole, and unanimously carried, that the audit report be accepted and approved. Manager Mahoney advised the Board that he had met with the Local Committee on April 3rd and had sent a telegram to LJ. Foster, advising him that because of the present river stage, that the river was changing its course and was cutting very rapidly and moving toward the levee. Because of river damage, it had been necessary for Ehlers to rebuild a portion of his canal approximately 300 feet West of the original canal location. Manager Mahoney advised the Board that Mr. Foster had made a trip to Blythe and they had made an air inspection tour of the river area. Attorney Shaw advised the Board that he had met with Phil Swing who had recently returned from Washington, relative to getting some action on having funds allocated for the river correction work in the Palo Verde area, as according to reports, funds for this purpose had been appropriated previously. Trustee C.A. Denk entered the meeting at this time. Mr. LJ. Foster, together with his assistant Mr. Rohrer of the U.S. Reclamation Service, entered the meeting at this time and entered into a general discussion with the Board on the river correction work necessary in this locality, and he advised the Board, among other things, that even though $50,000 had been appropriated for river correction work, that before any work could be done in this |
