Show Albany, Oregon, <br><br> August 17, 1905. <br><br> Dear Mr. Sweazey, <br><br> I am at Albany and am located for the time-being at least, I found some mail waiting here for me which you had forwarded. Dr. Schmitt and Mrs. Schmitt, whom I knew in Parkville gave me a very cordial welcome. I also have had the pleasure of visiting with Prof. and Mrs. Stephens of Park College, who are visiting Dr. Schmitt. <br><br> I hardly care to venture an opinion yet of Albany or the college. But I like the country here in Oregon. I will write you more about it when I have been here a while and have found out more. <br><br> I spent five days in Portland, and the greater part of three days in visiting the exposition. I enjoyed it all very much. There is a good display of the resources and industries of the northwest, and it is a showing that could not be made at exposition made in the central or eastern part of the country. I have heard a good deal of criticism, but I think that it came from people who had seen the St. Louis exposition and expected much the same thing. <br><br> Tuesday I took a little trip up the Columbia River to Cascade Locks. It was a very enjoyable and interesting trip. I left Portland yesterday morning and got to Albany about one o'clock. <br><br> If any further mail come for me will you please forwarded it to 707 Broadalbin St., Albany, Oregon. I shall write to the Literary Digest to send the paper here, but it will probably take two weeks or more to make the change. <br><br> And I would like to have you send the two boxes which I left.
