Show THE CHURCH REVIEW.

Territorial News.

PRESBYTERIAN, OGDEN.
"The funeral of W. H. Busby, an old soldier, the father of Mrs. A. J. Gilson, of this city, took place from the Presbyterian church, at 2:30 o'clock p.m. yesterday under the auspices of the G. A. R. The beautiful and impressive services were conducted by John A. Logon Post."
The above is a copy of a notice in The Press and The Standard. It is presumed that the last sentence in the above quotation refers to the services at the grave, as those at the church were conducted by the pastor. The sympathy of all friends in the church is with Mrs. Gilson and her mother in this hour of trial and bereavement. May the "God of all consolation" be their stay.
Four new members united with the Ladies' Aid society and Social Circle at their last meeting: Mrs. E. C. Drum and Mrs. M. T. Light, 2632 Monroe Avenue; Mrs. L. B. Carden, 569 31st street; Mrs. Sarah Haight, 2874 Washington Avenue. The meetings of this society are pleasant, interesting and helpful. Will all ladies interested in our church work make an effort to attend?
"The Young People's society of Christian Endeavor of the Presbyterian church gave a supper last evening from five to eight. It was immense. They also gave a program and it was all right. When the young people attempt anything they generally make it go."
Our congregations keep on increasing and are becoming so large that there is a demand for more Church Hymnals and we are going to have them. The session has ordered four dozen new copies and now won't we have some singing? why we'll be raising the roof, of the other building pretty soon.

BAPTIST, OGDEN.
Rev. H. K. Warren, President of Salt Lake College will preach for us this evening. We have no college in this territory and here is a Christian school well worthy of Baptist patronage. Come and hear the Dr. We hope the young people especially will be out in force. The time to lay a sure foundation for success in life is in youth.
The editor of the CHURCH REVIEW smiled upon us last Tuesday. The success of the REVIEW is satisfactory so far and no doubt has come to stay. We have heard nothing but good words for it lately. Come again Mr. Editor and send up the REVIEW as long as you send it free.

CONGREGATIONAL, OGDEN.
There was a large attendance at the business meeting of the church Thursday evening, Friday, 28th. The following officers were elected: Directors: J. M. Armstrong, E. C. Pyles, Benjamin Serwin, Geo. M. Smith, Mrs. Fred Smith; Deacons, Benjamin Servin, one year; David Peebles, two years, G. A. Bruce, three years. Deaconesses: Miss V. W. Ludden, one year; Miss Olive Snyder, two years; Mrs. H. E. Badger, three years. Treasurer, Miss Lillie Swobe; Clerk, H. E. Badger; Auditor, C. C. Snyder; Missionary Committee, Miss Rota Ashton, Mrs. Julia Rand, Mrs. W. Thompson.
The managers of the Home for the Friendless have secured Mr. Hillman Brough to lecture in the Town Hall, Tuesday evening of this week. His subject will be "The Spirit of Transition in Nations." Good music will be rendered. Mr. Brough's well known ability and the worthy object of the entertainment ought to draw a full house. We hope to see every one interested in this good work out that evening, Tuesday, March 12th, at 8 o'clock.

BAPTIST, PROVO.
We were pained Sunday on closing the service to see our militia drilling in sight of the church, for an example to our boys.
What may we expect from the coming generation when those professing Christianity disregard the day appointed for worship, then breaking down one of the main pillars of the Christian faith. It is not strange that infidelity stalks among us. Truly the "latter days" must be at hand when men shall be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God."
We regret that Martin Dow who has been so faithful to the day school and Sunday school, is confined at home by having his ankle crushed under his horse.

CONGRETATIONAL, PROVO.
A box of books came for our Sunday school library this week from friends in the East, through the kindness of Miss Harvey.
Let every voter who is interested in temperance reform, of which there is sore need in our city, see to it that his name is affixed to one of the petitions. The liquor traffic defeated in several states this winter ought not to win an evil triumph in the new state of Utah. But it behooves all good citizens to be wide awake for the next six months.

METHODIST, PROVO.
Last Sunday was a good day to all who participated in the exercises. The rules of the Apostolic church are just the rules for our church life today, into the church by repentance and Baptism, well ground in sound doctrine dwelling together in union and fellowship. To such a church the Lord will add daily such as he saves.
The Epworth League devotional meeting was a fitting introduction to the evening service, at the close of which "Mrs. Elsie Jensen united with the church on probation.

|
