Show INTERVIEW: Jacquez Page 4 they decided, we all decided together what was best for the school, and I think that we had a very, very good school. Now I notice that educators are using that. System, but I started using it when. . I was teaching because I thought that when I started school, I did not like to be forbidden to do things that I felt I should do.About the history of our community ... I don't know very much . . Butthere was an old gentleman that used to tell me things, and stories about superstitions, beliefs that they had here, and I enjoyed his stories, they were frightening, but I enjoyed them. JT: Do you recall any? W: Well I recall one, that was told to me about a man who used to be out every night, he would take out his wife, for an evening of pleasure and then after they came back in, he usually got drunk and when he got back, he would abuse her and hit her and ... make her life miserable and she didn't like it. So one time this man asked her to go to a dance and she said ... no because when you came back you are going to hit me and I am tired of that, you can go by yourself if you want to ... and she thought he wasn't going to go, and when he got ready to leave, she said, "Let the devil be with you all the time," when he was coming back at one o clock in the morning, he and a group of men were walking home llLld |
