Show Brent Huff t b r 20 9 in there. We went through the Panama Canal and down to Peru. It wa more like eing n a cruise, really, because you don 't do anything on ship, Marines don't. We ju t hung ut in the racks. When we stopped we got in our civilian attire and got off ship and went and partied. Peru was really cool, though. We went to one of the bases first and kind of trained with them. We had [unclear], like a few weekends up in Lima, so we'd get bussed up to Lima. We'd stay overnight. Yeah, the multi-national training was good. We did riot control training. I kind of thought the Peruvians had a better set up. We taught it to them and they said, "Okay, that's pretty good. Hey, check out what we got" (laughs). Honestly, our thing, we don't use it at all, so it's not tested. It's kind of retarded, really. Their way was way better. I thought that was kind of funny. They fired some RPGs while we were down there. We drank with some of the other militaries. I think that stuff' s really important, actually. I think it's too bad that it's so, they've downsized it so much because all these other countries, we should be building up our friends and staying tight. I think that's all this is, really; it's just an excuse for, I think some of those countries are probably even like not too good of friends in South America, but the military culture, again, it's a demographic and it even goes nationally. You go train with some other military and they're like you in a lot of ways, so you get along. They could be at war with each other, but they'll still get along. UNIT AS was fun times. All my stories from that are mostly drinking stories, being a Marine (laughs). When I got back, I got offered some orders, I mean like the next day, it was like back to back to go to Kansas City to be on a funeral team. But what it was was the funeral team was kind of like the side job, it's where the money came from. The job that I 51 |
