He d cid d h tu with lots of work and I worked hard to comply with all the jobs that I had and th y for me. I was two months behind. People called me and said ' I want you to do a j b or me," and asked, "How long do I have to wait." "Two months. I had one he says "Okay, if I find somebody else to do the job, I'll just call you and tell you that I have somebody else." He called me and says, "I have somebody to take care of it so you can forget me." So I forgot him. Another guy came in and took his place on the schedule. These guys didn't come through for him. He expected him to come through for him. So, he called me again and says, "Are you ready to come in and do my job?" I said, "No, you called and said that you had a man." He says, "How long do I have to wait?" I said, "Two months." He said, "Hell, that's a long time. I don't know what to do." I said, "Well, you can just go ahead and see what you can do. I will hold the job for you, until you tell me you are clear." He never got clear, so he had to wait for me. I went in there and got his job done, he paid and took care of it. But I was very, very lucky. I always had work. My name was good. As late as last year, I had a fellow that called me. He says, "Mr. Andersen, I have a job for you. You did such a beautiful job for my parents. I want you to do one for me." I said, "Sorry, I have been out for thirteen years. I haven't been in business since." "Oh, but can't you do the job?" he says. I said, "No, I've been in the hospital too many times and I'm up in age. I'm on the way to eighty-three." I said that to scare him off (laughs). 49 |
