Show 174 He has never been much interested in mining and he happened to be in Bluff when these two parties went through. They landed there and he was running a store and they came for supplies and he happened to be in the store when they were passing by. These are the only two that he now recalls. R. 387. He recalls the placer mine excitement on the San Juan but not so distinctly on the Colorado. The boom lasted a year or two and there were other minor excitements from time to time during the last fifty years; but very few for the last ten years. R. 387- 388. There were not many floods in a single year on the San Juan River but such floods as they had during his fifty years residence would come along in the two seasons July and September. R. 388- 389. " Q. I see. Some years there will be one or two floods, or just one flood? " A. Yes, about one good, big flood a year is enough, I guess. " Q. You don't think they will average more than one good, big flood a years? " A. No, they wouldn't average that; many years we don't have them. " Q. Many years whats? " A.
