Show PSIA - INTERMOUNTAIN i1inutes of Executive Conuni ttee Meeting January 26, 1982 PRESENT: Norm Burton, Fran Wikstrom, Jerry Warren, Doug Harmen, and Stu Marsh. (1) The Executive Conunittee appointed Jim Galles to be Chairman of the Spring Clinic and Fran Wikstrom to be the officer/ director liaison with overall responsibility. If Jim Galles accepts the appointment, he will meet with Norm and Fran to establish a schedule and theme for the clinic. (2) The Conunittee felt that it was important to get new letterhead as soon as possible and, therefore, decided to approve a new letterhead which consists of a reproduction of ur new pin, together with the terms "Professional Ski Instructors of America" and directly under, "Intermountain Division." The two lines will be of different colors dnd Intermountain Division will appear in slightly heavier type. The general ~ormat will be similar to that of the PSIA letterhead but we will not use the lines at the top and bottom of the page. We will go ahead and order the letterhead with this format. If the Board 3.S "' whole does not approve the design, however, it will be changed as necessary at that time. (3) The Conunittee decided to call a special meeting of the Board of Directors to be held in conjunction with the Examiner's Clinic on February 24, 1982 at 5:00 p.m. at a place to be announced. JoAnne Burton will provide written notice to all members of the Board. - Page two (4) On the issue of dual membership as concerns Northern Rocky Mountain Division, the Committee decided, subject to approval of the Board as a whole, that as a general policy matter we will discourage people from jumping from one division to another and encourage people to work within their division to solve any problems they may have. Otherwise, we will continue our present policy and stay out of Northern Rocky Mountain's internal problems. Members of another division will be allowed to take an exam in our division if they meet all of the necessary criteriR including passing of the teaching phase by a ski school director who has attended our Examiner's Clinic or has otherwise been qualified to pass the teaching phase. We will continue to encourage dual - memberships since this fosters an exchange of ideas between divisions and helps in reaching the goal of national unification. In order to transfer into this division, a person must actually move into the physical confines of the division at the ti.me he seeks to transfer his membership to PSIA - Intermountain. (5) The Committee unanimously commended JoAnne Burton (who was not present) for the great work she does as Executive Secretary of the division. The Committee was especially pleased with the work JoAnne does in preparing the minutes of Board meetings and felt that it was not necessary to have a verbatim transcript ·)f our meetings. All we really need is a summary from her notes. (6) Incumbent Board members should let Fran Wikstrom know no later than February 24 whether they desire to run for re-election to the Board. A mailing is being sent out to all membo.r·s advising _ -.. Page three them of the upcoming elections and soliciting candidates for the Board. (7) The Committee Eelt that attendance at Boa:rd meetings has been slipping recently and recommends to the Board that the By-Laws be strictly enforced. Any member not attending a Board meeting must be excused by a vote of the Board as a whole and unexcused absences will lead to dismissal from the Board as provided in the By-Laws.
