D.C~ reportz "The Italian stalemate is due to a deficiency in fighting men." The President says: "The present situation is •••• grave." All able-bodied soldiers are being ordered overseas for active service, leaving vacant many thousands of important domestic military jobs which can be filled by women - jobs long since filled by women of our Allies and the Axis. To fill these jobs on the home front, to lessen the draft pressure on fathers, and to hasten the end of this bloody carnage, our Army must have immediately several hundred thousand recruits to staff the Women's Army Corps. For instance, the Surgeon General is in i!Ilt.aediate need of 50,000 WAC's to help care for the maimed and afflicted soldiers returning from the battle fronts. Likewise the Air Forces, Ground Force·s and Service Forces are in dire need of help. The· Army asks us to gi~e them a nand. Each one of us is asked to turn in to out~ headquarters the name and address of ~ woman who is qualified morally, ;nentally and physical-~-Y for service in the Women 1 s Army Corps. (Those in critical w.qr indus tries require release.) Fine, clean-cut, alert members of the Corps will in turn contact the prospect, and her family if need be, with a view to eA~laining all of the details of Woments Army Corps 3ervice. The dignified, clean atmosphere in which the women function will be cleai'"ly demonstri.l.ted, as will the respect and consideration shown the ladies by Army personnel.
