Mimos ohm quidem Comoedia; partes fuifle, fed è Comoedia; veluti fervitute affertos , ac fui juris faftos , quartam poefeos dramati-ticae formam conftituifle , in fuperioribus ftabilivi-mus : in qua nempe & cantu, & fono , & verfibus adhibitis, res ut plurimum viles, & obfcaenae, vilif-fìmarumque perfonarum mores , & affeftus refere-bantur. E x Mimis autem iftis paulatim exorti funt Pantomimi, qui omiflavoce, & cantu, non canen-do aut loquendo, fed pedum , atque m a n u u m abilitate , totiufque corporis variis gefticulationibus fatta diftaque horainum, atque integras etiam, fi li-beret, fabulas reprefentabant. Difti autem fuerunt Pantomimi, eo quod rxvtv, imitarentur : adeoque non viles tantum Perfonas, fedgraves etiam ac tragicas; idque non voce , 6c geftu , quemadmodum Mimi , fed folis gefticulationibus .
