Fletcher authoriaed $5»000 for the purchase of Persian aaáTEhe Canter comáissioned Dr. Khosrew Mostofi, who was on a Fulbright ^ ^ fellowship in Irán to acquire more than 3,000 Volumes^ It is hoped that /U^w_J; this wise policy will persist, not only in regard to Arabic and Persian, ^"-AA^ but also to Turkish and all Semitic languages. We hope that the publication of the present volume will make our accessions available t© all interested scholars. 3±^s^h^|^«^fts^ |his tome will be foliowed by others which will include the still uneatalogued Arabic material in our workrooms running into thousands of *WS#QWIS»K*2. Other volumes are projected for the Persian, Turkish, Hebrew and Western language holdings as they keep mounting in each single discipline. Although mueh has been done» the fieid of Middle Sastem Studies as a whole will always be open to development, and we must depend in the attainment of our goals on the sympathy and support of both jfáfr local and federal authorities.
