Show 7*7- NATIONAL ARCHIVES REGIONAL CENTERS INITIATE LOANS The National Archives, for the first time, has decided to make its regional center collections available for interlibrary loan. For institutions in the state of Utah, this means that the Archives Branch of the Denver Federal Records Center can honor requests from the approximately 8,000 rolls of microfilm it had on hand in mid-August. Additional films are constantly being added. The Denver Center also has custody of almost 400,000 cubic feet of records created by those Federal agencies located in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Virtually untapped by researchers, these records include many series that are rich in content. The Marriott Library Interlibrary Loans Office can obtain items expected to be within the National Archives holdings; however, there are some rather strict rules with which the potential borrower must be familiar: 1. A maximum of four rolls will be loaned on behalf of an individual for a period of 21 days, including transit time. 2. Microfilm will be loaned only Jx> the Marriott Library and must not be removed from the confines of the library following arrival. 3. Damaged or lost microfilm rolls are the responsibility of the borrowing library and this cost must be passed on to the user. The replacement price will be the regular purchase price charged by the National Archives. The Interlibrary Loans Office has a complete list of items available from Denver; however, some of the more interesting selections follow: 1. Papers of the Continental Congress, 1774-89: 204 rolls 2. Ratified Indian Treaties, 1722-1869: 16 rolls 3. The Negro in the Military Service of the United States, 1639-1886: 5 rolls 4. Mathew B. Brady Collection of Civil War Photographs: 4 rolls 5. Territorial Papers. Utah, 1850-1902: 6 rolls 6. Reich Ministry for Armaments and War Production: 193 rolls 7. Records of the Office of the U.S. Chief Counsel for War Crimes, Nuremberg: 164 rolls Descriptive pamphlets have been prepared for many National Archives microfilm publications. Each pamphlet includes an introduction, helpful indexes or lists, and roll-by-roll descriptions and price lists. The ILL Office can obtain these pamphlets too.
