Show not having been extinguished, the matter is submitted to the Department, with the view of establishing definitely the jurisdiction of the Indian Office over lands similarly situated, not alone in handling the matters pertaining to the Round Valley Indian Reser-n vation, but for the purpose of establishing a precedent for the future guidance of this Office, in cases of other reservations Bhere the Indian title has not been extinguished by the purchase of the lands by the Government from the Indians and payment made therefor by. the Government. •* yg The act of October 1, 1890 (26 Stat. L. 658) provides for the survey and allotment of the agricultural lands on this reservation; for the creation of grazing and timber reserves; and for the disposal of the remainder "at the proper land office of the United States, by the register thereof, at public sale", the proceeds to "be placed in - the Treasury of the United States to the credit of said Indians." The act of February 8, 1905 (33 Stat. L. 706) provides :yy; that all the lands relinquished from this reservation under the act of October 1, 1890 (26 Stat.
