Show REPORT OF THE COMMISSIONER OF INDIAN AFFAIRS; 93 The grant dooument is believed to be valid, and it evidently boara the genuine signature of Governorde Cruaate, who waast that date governor and csptain-general of the province. The approval of the grant would be in pursuance of the polioy of theSpanish Government, from which it was obtained, and, under the conditions of the treaty of Guadalnpe Hidalgo, it is obligatory upon the Government of the United States to recognize the rights of the pueblos in the premises. The grant is therefore approved to the inhabitants of the pueblo Zuni to the extent of 1 league of 5,WO varas in eaoh direction from the four corners of the pueblo proper.
