Nerad, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA 52242.] A 13- year- old girl developed proptosis of her right eye and was found to have a middle and posterior fossa mass on the left which was a lipoma. Computerized tomographic scanning also showed marked enlargement of the superior ophthalmic vein, which the authors feel resulted from pressure from the tumor on the cavernous sinus. Lyn A. Orbital signs developed; biopsy of an orbital mass showed adenocarcinoma with features of gastrointestinal malignancy. Further work- up showed diffuse abdominal involvement with adenocarcinoma of the stomach. The authors postulate this rare orbital metastasis may have occurred because of an abnormal immune status of this patient, who was HIV- positive. Lyn A. Sedwick, M. D.
