C. <br><br> My dear Dr. Jackson:- <br> Yours of June eighteenth enclosing a letter from Dr. McNiece to you, has been received and carefully considered, also the statements submitted earlier by you, Dr. Paden and others regarding the properties of the Westminster College. <br> The whole matter has been very carefully considered by us and I am authorized to write you now more definitely along the lines of our conversation when you were here. <br> In the first place it does not seem feasible for us this year to make any special endeavor to raise money for the building which is needed. Of course you will have our sympathetic interest in any appeals you may make for that purpose that do not intrench upon the normal receipts of our Board, but we cannot personally enter upon the canvass. <br> In the second place we are willing if necessary to contribute during the present fiscal year one thousand dollars to the support of a professor, this however only in the event of your failure and our failure to secure aid from the College Board. As indicated in our conversation we will support you in a strenuous approach to that Board for the temporary aid which you will need this year. If we fail to secure that however you may count upon us, as above, for the one thousand dollars. <br> We did not send for you to come to the meeting of the Board yesterday because we were advised that nothing would be done. We believe nothing definite was done and nothing now will be done until the autumn.
