and will allow them to be used. Dr. Paden, Mr. McClain and I had a recent consultation over the H. M. Bd's proposition to sell the Collegiate Institute property as soon as a good price can be secured, and rebuild ____*** College ground. We all favored the plan. We also favored the plan of concentrating the Educational work around the 4 Academies.
After President Bailey had been over to Newark and spoken there, I read a very interesting letter from Dr. Lyman W. Allen of the South Park Pres. ch. speaking in the highest terms of Mr. Bailey's address on Mormonism and the Claims of the College. He said the address was "unique, concise, elegant, not offending anyone, and yet piercing to the very heart of the subject." He says his people were greatly impressed by it and were greatly interested in the claims of the College as set forth by Mr. Bailey. He feels sure such addresses will bring forth fruit and regrets that his Ch. did not give more, but thinks it will later. He says the appeals are very frequent.
