After consulting with General Eaton about the enlargement of the Board of Trustees of the college I will write you again. I agree with you fully that the best thing to do is to let the Congregationalists sell their own property. I suggested purchasing it only to get rid of the thing. <br> I understand the ladies of Dr. Kumler's church, who raised $248 in their church in response to my appeal, did not send to the Board, but sent the money directly to the two lady teachers. However, when I go to New York I will look after that. <br> The thousand dollars that I am raising for the teachers is independent of the thousand dollars that the Board promises. <br> I note that you say that a balance of $1,755 is needed for the furnishing of the academic building.
