THE CHURCH REVIEW. <br><br> Y. M. C. A. News. <br> The Meeting Today. <br> Dr. W. D. Mabry is to address the young men today. This announcement should be sufficient to fill the room. Mr. Abell is arranging the vocal music and Mr. Nock will be at the piano. All men are invited and will be cordially welcomed. <br><br> Sunday Services. <br> The service last Sunday was unusually interesting and helpful. The truth was presented in a very forcible manner by the speaker and by the singers. We hope to have these friends with us again soon. By the way, have you noticed that our Sunday meetings are characterized by strong leaders and excellent music? Drop in today at 4 p. m. and see for yourself. <br><br> Tomorrow Night. <br> Invitations have been issued for the mock trial. Did you see one? Well, call at the office and get one as a souvenir. The boys intend to "do themselves proud" tomorrow night and everybody is invited. The sheriff will be after you if you are not promptly on time at 8 p. m. <br><br> New Departure <br> Monday, May 13th, is to be a big night with us. The Mutual Improvement Association, of the Tenth ward, is to have charge of the evening entertainment. Some of the best talent in the city will be in attendance, two glee clubs included. No charge for these Monday night affairs and you can't afford to miss one of them. <br><br> Monday Nights <br> May 6th, mock trial; May 13th, Tenth Ward Mutual Improvement Association; May 20th, Epworth League of First M. E. church; May 27th, lecture, Prof. Kenaston of Salt Lake College. Keep the above list before you and reserve Monday night. <br><br> ECHOES. <br> Attend the men's meeting. <br> Saturday afternoons the bathing facilities are crowded to their utmost capacity. <br> Miss Caufield kindly furnished the flowers which decorated the platform last Sunday. <br> The noonday prayer meetings conducted by Evangelist Kirk have been very helpful. <br> The mock trial for tomorrow night gives promise of being a very interesting and joyful affair. <br> Reserve a place on your list of engagements for the Monday night entertainments. Everybody is invited. <br> The ladies of the Auxiliary are arranging for an unusually interesting ice cream festival, the first of the season we believe. <br> The secretary was absent from the city several days during the past week and Mr. Ralph Wilson kindly looked after affairs. <br> We know a man who plays football, wears a number nine boot and is looking for the sneak thief who robbed our plants of their blossoms just before the service last Sunday. <br><br> Athletic and Gymnastic. <br> Outdoor sports form the chief attraction now. <br> The Butte game is the theme for conversation in football circles. <br> A ladies' gymnasium class will probably be formed at an early date. <br> Notwithstanding there are no classes in the gymnasium, several young men are taking regular exercise. <br> There is great demand for tennis courts and baseball grounds. Brown, Treasurer. <br>Place of meeting: The Lecture Room of the 1st Pres. church. <br> Time-3 p.m., Thursday. <br> PLEDGE. <br> "I hereby promise, God helping me, to abstain from all distilled, fermented and malt liquors, including wine, beer and cider, and to employ all proper means to discourage the use of, and traffic in, the same." <br><br> The meeting this week, Thursday, will be a mothers' meeting. These meetings are of great importance to mothers and we hope to see a goodly number present. <br> We must not grow weary in the temperance work, even if the obstacles in our way do seem un-surmountable. The fact that prohibition will not be submitted to the vote of the people this year ought not to discourage us, for it is sure to come sooner or later. God is on our side and if "God is for us who can be against us?" <br> The Sunbeam Sunday school has been given over entirely into our hands again. Now shall we be able to carry it on or not? Mr. Lister is unable to devote the time to it that is necessary any longer. There is an attendance of ninety children and it is in a part of the city that needs just such a school I do not think any one can fail to see the importance of keeping it up. We need teachers. <br> The lecture given last Tuesday night by Miss Pash, the white ribboner from across the sea, was very interesting indeed. We deeply regret that the night was so stormy that there were not more able to hear it. Miss Pash is a graduate of Cambridge University and is a lady of much refinement and culture. She spoke to us of her temperance work in England, France and India. How it cheers our hearts to know that, "There are bands of ribbon white around the world, around the world." <br><br>
