Show THE CHURCH REVIEW. <br><br> CONGREGATIONAL, OGDEN. <br> On Wednesday afternoon of this week, the W. C. T. U. will meet as usual at the home of Miss Harriet Swobe on 24th street. A full attendance is desired. <br> We are glad to be able to say that Miss Ludden seems much better now and may steadily improve when the settled weather comes. Mrs. Richardsan, too, is improving, and Mrs. Curry and the little daughter are both "well and happy." <br> The supper given by the lady directors of the Home of the Friendless - prominent among whom are several of our members, was a success. Fifty dollars were taken in, but only half of that amount was cleared. There were provisions lift over though, which were sent out to the home. <br> We will be glad to welcome back into the church membership today, three of our former members, Mrs. P. H. Emerson, Miss Eugenia Smith and Mr. Guy Haas. <br><br> FIRST METHODIST, OGDEN. <br> All are glad to see Mrs. Bailey at our services again. She has been absent nearly a year with friends in Canada. <br> The musical by the choir, given at the residence of Mrs. McCoy on the 19th ult, was a most delightful occasion. Just what all anticipated. <br> The Sunday school board held a pleasant session at the residence of the Superintendent last Monday evening. Brother Ford presented his resignation as chorister. The vacancy was left open for the time. Miss Gatrell was elected organist. It was decided to observe Children's Day and a committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements. <br><br> BAPTIST, OGDEN. <br> Sister Putnam has been vacating a short time. She visited the missions in Salt Lake and Provo and had a general good time. We hope the Eastern society will, consider favorably her retention in this vicinity next year. <br> Mr. and Mrs. Wardleigh, 2783 Grant, buried one of their twin children last Monday. The other child was very sick, but seemed to have taken a change for the better. <br> Deacon Shepherd started last Thursday for England to visit his parents and see the land of his birth. He will be gone about three months. May he have a pleasant time, a safe voyage and happy return. <br> The ladies mission circle had a very pleasant time at Sister Sleeths last Tuesday. It was the wrong date however for their meeting so to put them right in the calendar they will meet next Tuesday 3 p. m. in the lecture room of the church. There will be no cake served, but business of importance is to be transacted. <br><br> CHRISTIAN, OGDEN. <br> Our people are hopeful of prosperity coming to the church with the boom in business that follow the pushing forward of many enterprises that have or are being established. Someone said, but not truly, that "Religion flourishes best when the people suffer most." Religion (Christianity at least) finds most cordial and wholesome support amongst cheerful, contented, prosperous people. <br> The presence of Sister Shealy at social meeting last Sunday, was very gratifying to all. They gladly welcomed her from the confines of the sick room. <br> We are sorry to note the departure of Brothers Zeebuyth and Hays with their families for Oregon. <br> Our Brother Gunnell and children are enjoying a visit from his parents. They came from Colorado and will probably spend the summer. <br> Brother Wm. Bostaph is in Idaho surveying for a large canal. <br> The Y. P. S. C. E. meets regularly on Sunday evenings, though the attendance is not what it ought to be and would be with proper effort. <br><br> CONGREGATIONAL, PROVO. <br> The lecture on China was quite a success. The crowded condition of the room was a pleasant sight. As the slides belong to our Foreign Missionary Society, it will be a few dollars better off for the collection taken. <br> Our sympathy goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Murphy in the loss of their infant son. <br> Let the Ladies Aid Society be sure that they have a wide awake committee to give cordial welcome to all strangers who attend our services. <br> The pastor hopes to see, all the members present at the Lord's Supper this morning. "Do this in remembrance of me." <br> Tonight the lectures upon the Life of our Lord will be continued at 8 p. m. These will be illustrated by the stereopticon as usual. <br><br> METHODIST, PROVO. <br> Dr. Iliff conducted the last quarterly meeting services for this conference year on the 27th and 28th. The reports from all departments of work were hopeful and the quarterly board unanimously requested the return of the pastor for another year. Mr. Southwell made a short visit to Provo last week. <br> Glad to see Bro. Noon in the house of the Lord once more, though not looking as strong as usual. <br> Regular monthly social meeting of the Epworth League on Monday next at the parsonage, at 8 p. m. All members are invited to be present. Ask your friend to join the League. <br><br> BAPTIST, PROVO. <br> The last of the series of lectures on the Kingdom of Heaven will be given at 8 p. m. These lectures have traced the progress of the Kingdom in its different phases through this present world and millennial period, which will be the glorified state, and the eternal home of the saints. <br><br> |
