THE CHURCH REVIEW. <br><br> Among the Churches <br> OF SALT LAKE CITY. <br><br> ILFF M. E. <br> Much credit is due our committee on decoration for the beautiful appearance the church presented Easter morning and we desire to thank the kind friends also who loaned the flowers. <br> Perhaps some did not know that beautiful bouquet of Calla lilies was sent from California by Sister Lincoln and was brought to adorn our Easter service by Mr. and Mrs. Boes. "how kind of them" was heard from many lips. How we wish Sister Lincoln was with us again. <br> Brother C. M. Wood and Miss Minnie Holt have been on the sick list this week, but both we are glad to say are improving. <br><br> LIBERTY PARK M. E. <br> The pastor had a sudden and severe attack of something like la grippe last Sunday noon and found himself unable to be about for some days. <br> The stewards will be calling upon all the members and friends soon. The year is drawing "swift to its close." Neither God nor the church expect you to do more than you can, but they do expect you to do all you can. <br> Eliza Burd was born in Salt Lake in 1858. She united with the Liberty Park Methodist Episcopal church Dec. 26, 1884; was baptized Jan. 6th 1895 and entered into rest April 17th 1895. <br> Her dying words were, "I am trusting in Jesus. I have given all into his hands." <br> She leaves a husband and four children who with her mother mourn for her, but not as they who have no hope. <br> What a bright side to so dark a cloud! <br><br> CENTRAL CHRISTIAN. <br> We are glad to see such interest in the meetings. The house is full every evening. <br> Bro. Romig is doing some faithful preaching. It is just what this community needs. Great good must result from such a presentation of the truth. <br> We are not in a hurry about confessions. We do not want the unconverted to come except through repentance. The church is only for the saved. The world is still large enough for sinners. <br> Those were precious prayer meetings we had every evening during the past week. No one has been specially invited, but the entire time was taken up in earnest prayer. <br> We were glad to have members of other churches of the city present at our meetings during the past week. They will be cordially received every night they can come. <br> What should hinder these services from proving a great blessing to every church in the city? God never gave better weather than we are having. The people are inclined to attend these services and many of them are being deeply moved by the truth preached. <br> The prevailing sins of the day have been shown up in such a way as not to compromise either the preacher or this church. We believe it folly for anyone to pretend to be a Christian and at the same time be doing the things that the devil wants you to do. This is why we call card playing, dancing and such amusements sin. <br> The brethren should remember that the meeting is just begun. The victory is not won. We must all stand up to the work manfully. <br> Now is the time for a canvass from house to house. Go, brethren and ask the people to come out and hear the sermons. <br><br> FIRST CONGREGATIONAL. <br> The ladies of the church are planning an entertainment to be given early in May, which will be a unique and enjoyable affair. The ladies will be attired in the colors of the rainbow, the lecture room and the tables are to be artistically trimmed in the same colors, the whole forming a pleasing spectacle. The event will be looked forward to with much interest. <br> The services last Sabbath morning were notable among those of the year. The fine display of nature's choicest products, a large and attentive audience, excellent singing and a grand sermon,-all tended to make the occasion a memorable one. <br> The topic to be considered at the next mid-week prayer meeting is "Religious Tolerance," Matt 7:16 23:2 Tim 2:16 23. Why a duty? Where its limits? Evils of misunderstanding it. <br> The meeting of the Y. P. S. C. E. this evening will be under the leadership of Miss Florence Hall. Subject, "On Guard; over what? How?" Neh. 4:6 23. <br><br> Burlington Branch. <br> Not many of our people could attend the Easter concert at the First church last Sunday evening but those who did go pronounce it a very attractive and helpful service. <br> Look out for renewed interest in all departments of work at Burlington. Some of our best workers have been so situated that they could devote but little time to the work here. This is not so now and you may look for a revival of the old time enthusiasm, vigor, life, warm heartedness and love. Do your part please. <br> We will begin next Sunday to rehearse for Children's Day. Let us all take an active interest in arranging an attractive program. <br><br>
