Show W RRE M W PRI 6, 2001 ffic r called you in, told you to go to Annapolis and take th tests. Y u pa d. Y u joined the Navy. And that was in '43? WAR: Yes, June of' 43 I joined the Navy. I was in Camp Roberts fr 111 April to June. BBL: So you were pleased that you passed the tests? WAR: Well, I forgot about the horse (laughs). When the war started they quit doing that, so I forgot about the horse. BBL: Tell me about your experience at Annapolis. WAR: Well, again, being a Utahn and never really being out of here except to go visit relatives in California, I had never had anything to do with water. And I get back there and they had everything to do with water. I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I went to Annapolis they knew, the day you went in there, every single class you were going to take, exactly how many men they were going to eliminate each year, they knew exactly how many textbooks for each class and you didn't choose anything, everything 16 |
