Show DOROTHY J. BEUTLER MARCH 26, 2001 BBL: So In order to buy sugar or whatever commodity you were trying to get, you had to have a certain number of tickets to get it. So you worked at Hotel Utah for a time, you don't retneinber exactly how long, and then where did you go from Hotel Utah. DOR: July 1943 I went to work at the radio tube plant. I was an Inspector of radio tubes and I was there until I think at least March of 1944 Soineplace I got a little book here and that's what I have recorded. Here's a picture. BBL: I'tn looking at a photograph and It says, "Inspection B Shift." DOR: And here's my record of earnings and deductions and It goes over a few Inore pages for the next year, In '43 and '44, I thullc Son1eplace here there's a picture of n1e with that badge on, the Eitel-McCullough- BBL: DOR: BBL: DOR: BBL: DOR: This was Eimac? Eitel-McCullough. And they n1ade radios? Radio tubes. And you Inspected them? We were an Inspection plant. I ren1en1ber It was very good treatn1ent. You had good pay This tells you how n1any hours I worked and overtune. BBL: Regular was eighty-eight hours, seven and one-half hours of overtime and you earned $51 61 You had a little tax taken out, you bought a savings bond and your net pay was $44 53 So you hked working there? DOR: The conditions were excellent except for shift work, you know, two weeks of days, two weeks of nights, two weeks of afternoons. Afternoon we were cut off 18 |
