JOSEPH, MISSOURI. St. Joseph is a thriving little city on the Missouri River, at the terminus of the Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad, which thus connecting it with the great railroad system of the country, has given it prominence as an outfitting post, and has secured to it substantial growth. An immense emigration leaves there annually for the various regions west. The road passes through a fairly settled country west of the Missouri as far as Kinnekuk, where it intersects with the military road to Fort ,Kearney. From St. Joseph, the distance is about fifteen miles greater to Kinnekuk, at which. the Atchison road intersects, than from Atchison. FROM NEBRASKA CITY. From Nebraska City, Plattsmouth, and Omaha, points higher up on the Missouri River, the distance to CoLoRADO and UTAH is considerably less; but these points are beyond rail way termination.
