Lloyd Frank, Secretary UNITED STATES LJS sa SKI ASSOCIATION INTERMOUNTAIN DIVISION P.O. Box 2203 -'1,,1 Mr. Louis Lorenz, President I ntermounta i n Sk i I nstructors Assn. 2010 West North Temple Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Lou: September 29, 1965 Salt Lake City, Utah 84110 Last spring, at the convention, you people were kind enough to invite me to your Board Meeting. At that meeting I was asked what you could do for us. I was genuinely thri lied with your attitude, but was unable to answer at that time in as much as I hadn't thought of what we could do for you. I bel ieve the general answer would be a good substantial increase in ski ing participation. I feel that the place to get that increase is from the non-skier and the not too enthused skier. We have over a mi I I ion people within one hour of ski ing in this Division, therefore, it seems that that is where to go for the increase. I suppose it's fine to encourage the tourist skier, but I bel ieve with the proper effort, we would find ten new skiers in this Division to one tourist skier. You people are al I aware of the benefits of organized ski ing, but the publ ic isn't. The reason for providing this discount book is to show a material advantage in belonging to the Association. With this book and some help, we should boost the membership from a dormant 2,000 (mostly competition, directly and indirectly) to between five and ten thousand. If we are able to do this, many of our problems would automatically be solved, and it certainly would increase the potential for ski instruction. If you people would, as a group, buy one membership for each of your group at $2.00 each and help us sell more of these $2.00 memberships, I think that would be a good start toward helping work with each other. You people are in a key position to help us sell this program, and if we sell it, I'm sure you wi I I ag ree that it wi I I be of va I ue to you. In the meantime, this book has from $25.00 to $50.00 practical cash value and a possible value of over $500.00. I'm sure that your people would receive value for their $2.00 membership and the membership should be so easy to sel I to others that it would be a matter of making the contact. LOU I S LORENZ 2 Of 2 September 29, 1965 If your people have something that you feel we should do, let's talk about it or hear from you. Good luck with the coming season. Sincerely, Earl D.
