Bill Thomas: First Aid Card. Business: Credit arrangements of ski insturctors with ski shops and cafes-not favorable with reputation of ISIA. Stand to lose discounts if practice continued. Advise delinquent rr.embers of their responsibilities to these institutions and request that th~ accounts be taken care of as soon as possible. Certification: Bill Lash has been under severe criticism from mon-certified people. They claim they don't have a chance unless the association likes him. Are we to tough? No l We should not drop our standards. Should we have other examiners from other areas? (Curt Chase - Nick Ferori) from Aspen and Yosemite would release the pressure from the ISIA members. Bill stated, it is hard for the ISIA members to be certifiers becaus e they know everyone and then the ~embers feel funny about the situation. It causes ill feeling amoungst the members. Bill: We have to conduct am a fair and impatical certification, to avoid tension. All certifiers must be full insturctors. It was suggested, that we have two outsiders and two of our own men to avoid conflict in the future. The forrest service and lift operators should be notified. The following should be contacted. Claude Jones, Sam Huntington, Alton Melville, Paul Goddard, Charles Morton, Ray Stewart, Zane Doyle, Bob Barrett, Harold Sieholtzer, Cal McPhie, Lee Bronson, F.C. Kozial, John Herbert, Julian Thomas, Edwin Gibbs, Don.Guy Wight, Dean Jensen. (Bill Cook and Hugh Olander will write letters) Note: We don't have enough teachers. Mainly because of the Barrett area. We aren't going to have enough teachers this year. The association could possibl, train people for this job. We are confronted with the problem of Candian ski instuctors. Introduction of Adrian Segel as new publicity chairman. Report by Adrian: Order 200 posters for publication on ski Instructors. Adrian sent copies of our letter on the clinic to the ski magazine, Ski Life and Skiing Publishing Comnany in Denver. Sent letters to Bill Ashly about publisity on our letter in regard to the newspaper in Jackson, Wyoming. Next Order of Business: Need for Instructors: Introduction of Bill Thomas, Gus Hansen; Main problem is on the part of part-time instuctors. Temporary permits abused. Ski Masters should be responsible. Perlllll1ll be gran ted after person is approved by tm board. They should be reviewed by the board. Each man on a temporary permit should be brough t up before the Board by the Ski School Master for anproval. Temporary Ins tructors should not receive same pay as Certified insturctors. Require Ski School Directors to submit a temporary permit to the Board of Directors to be approved by the Board, and further more the Board should draft a letter to K.Smith in a form of a written papremand as to the way he has failed to run his school and his lack of cooperation with ISlA. Kozial should be notified about this situation. Amendment to the by laws, to be mailed by Bill Lash to be anproved b~ the Board. Alf: Temporar~ permits to be approved by the Board. Would like to wait to see how the~ ski. Will be brought up at a later date. Junior: Junior and Maxine thank the association for the letter sent to Califomia by Bill Lash, and al so thank Bill Lash for tm letter. Maxine and Junior would like to keep their standing in our association.
