Now which side of the family, your father's mother? PD: Mothers. O'N: Your mother's mother. PD: Uh huh. O'N: And did you remember her last name? PD: She went by her husband's last name. That was Lopez. O'N: She was a Lopez and it was that family of Utes who did the herding out through here? PD: Yah. I think these were sheep and goat owners too. These along here and over there. O'N: I see. And did your folks who lived over there at Mancos Canyon, did you ever travel over this way when you were a young lady? PD; Some but I never did until I married my husband. O'N: I see. And with your folks over there, did you hold the Bear dance or did you go down to Towaoc? |
