PD: But the way from my father says the starting place of my life, you know . . , that he told me, O'N: Did his people come from some other area other than around Towaoc? PD: Yah. O'N: Where did they come from? PD: Well, Great- Grandpa, he came from the North. O'N: Um hum. PD: He came down on horseback, O'N: Did he come from the northern Ute country? PD: Yah. O'N: Up by Fort Duchesne and that area? PD: Where's that place that they had that ( Ute.) that's what they call it that they had there- agencies. O'N: Oh, White River Agency? PD: Uh huh. O'N: He came from the White River agency and rode down here, PD; They came through Ignacio~- I mean they went up north and on the mountain side and then they came down. They were Utes before that too, you know. O'N: Was that the time when the Utes from Montrose, Colorado went up to Fort Duchesne, up to the Uintah- Ouray? PD: Yah. |
