Show - 6- O'N: Um hum. Did you ever plant gardens here on White Mesa? PD: I tried to but somehow the ground seemed like it doesn't . . . O'N: Doesn't do too well, huh? PD: Doesn't do too well. O'N: What do you do for water? PD: We got running water here. O'N: So you have to use it out of the hose. PD: Uh huh. O'N: I see. When you moved over here did you see some differences in the way the people talked to the way that talk over at Ute Mountain? PD: I don't know. I'm used to all the languages, you know from Ignacio and up north, you know and to me it doesn't make any difference. O'N: I see. You got along. You could communicate with everybody, huh? PD: Cause I've got relatives over at-- cause Grandma was-~ she was over there on my dad's side. His Grandma was from over there, O'N: Over to Uintah- Ouray? PD: Over at Ignacio. O'N: Over at Ignacio. And do you remember what her name was? PD: Well in a way. Her Ute name x^ as, it was^ Uquisetch/ 7 O'N: Do you know the English name too? PD: No. O'N: But she married and moved from . . . PD: She just stayed over there and she died over there. O'N: She died at Ignacio. PD: Um hum. |
