Sweazey, Principal, <br> The Collegiate Institute, <br> Salt Lake City, Utah. <br><br> Dear Sir:-- <br><br> In reply to yours of yesterday concerning the suspension of my son, Thomas from the school. <br><br> The first thing that arises in my mind is if that boy has been violating the rules and regulations of the school prior to this time, how is it that his parents have not been notified that he has been misbehaving? Our experience with the boy is that he is generally very easily handled and we do not have any trouble while at home to keep him under control; and had you notified me that he was violating any of the rules of the school, I think it would have been a very easy matter for me to have placed him strictly under your control. <br><br> As far as going to the matinee in the afternoon is concerned, I think when he promised to you that he would not go, he certainly violated your order also his agreement with you, which I certainly do not approve. Seeing that there is only a little more than a month for the school to run, I do not see any good reason why you could not permit him to continue and finish out the term, so that he would have a good feeling to return next Fall. While I have no desire to support or assist any of the boys in wrong doing, under the many circumstances in connection with the case, wherein he is going to lose a month's schooling, I would ask you as a <br> [Continues on next page.] <br><br>
