Show 53' that while the department thus held him responsible for the Indian affairs in Utah, it did not furnish him with the necessary instructions or usual facilities of other Territories to aid in the performance of his 1 duty. More icportant still was the continued lack of sufficient agents, testified to by Young and Holeman 2 both. However the department or Congress may have felt towards the Mormons as a result of the agents reports Young according to his own account was not notified up to thi3 time of any dissatisfaction on the part of the 3 government. Meanwhile Young and the agents continued their activities. In his report for the year 1655 ( September 29th.), Young stated that pe « ce prevailed among the Indians themselves and with their white neighbors and the emigrants.
