August 15,1894 (28 Stab., p. 295), and May 33,1900 (31 Stats., p. 247), 894 conveyances of land had been made by the Citizen Potawatomi and Absentee Shawnee Indians, amounting to 90,447.86 acres, at i valuation of $499,615.48, an average of $5.52 per acre. Between August 15, 1901, and August 15,1902, there have heen approved 195 conveyances of land by the Citizen Potawatomi Indians, amounting to 22,946.87 acres, at a valuation of $124,543.78, an average of $5.42 per acre; also 60 conveyances of land by the Absentee Shaw-nee Indians, amounting to 5,268.74 acres, at a valuation of $54,572.75, an average of $10.35 per acre. The total sales of land by these two tribes since the passage of the act of August 15,1894, are 1,149 conveyances, aggregating 118,663.47 ' acres, at a valuation of $678,732.01, an average of $5.72 per acre. Peoria. and Xiami, Indian Tei-ritory.-The last annual report of this Office stated that up to August 1, 1901, under the act of .June 7,1897 (30 Stab., p. 72), 86 conveyances of land bad.been made by the Peoria Indians, amounting to 6,215.96 acres, at a valuation of $65,261.90, an i average of $10.49 per acre; also 41 conveyances by the Miami Indians, amounting to 3,137.80 acres, at a valuation of $32,792.50, an average of $10.45 per acre. 4 Between August 1, 1901, and August 15, 1902, there have been approved by the Department 17 coliveyances of land by the Peoria, Indians, amounting to 1,077.10 acres, at a valuation of $14,606.50, an average of $13.56 per acre; and 2 conveyances by the Miami Indians, amounting to 60 acres, at a valuation of $600, an average of $10 per acre. The total sales of lands by these two tribes of Indians, since the passage of the act of June 7,1897, are 103 conveyances by the Peoria, amounting to 7,293.06 acres, at a valuation of $79,868.40, an average of $10.95 per acre, and 43 conveyances by the M i i i Indians, amonnt-ing to 3,197.80 acres, at a valuation of $33,392.50, an average of $10.44 per acre, making 146 conveyances of land by both tribes, aggregating 10,490.86 acres, at a valubtion of $113,260.90, an average of $10.79 per acre. Wysndot, Indian Territory.-By the Indian appropriation act ap-proved June 10,1896 (29 Stab., p. 343), it was provided- That the adult allottek of aections twenty-one and twentyeight, in tox.nship twenty-aeven north,.of mge tbenty:four eaat, in the Wyandotte Reservation, Indian Territory, m y sell and convey the land allotted to them in said sections: Bwided, That the land so conveyed shall not exceed one-half of the land owned by each of them within the limits of the Quapaw Agency, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Interior. Under the provisions of this 'law 18 conveyances of land had been made by the Wyandot Indians up to August 15, 1901, amounting to 326 acres, at a valuation of $7,190, an svemge of $22.05 per acre. |
