Show 5. Winston Churchill once commented that democracy was not a very good form of government - but that all others were worse. That may well be the case with Federal managment of the public lands; for all its faults the current system is superior to alternatives which have been proposed to date. Certainly, the Sagebrush Rebellion is a step backward, not forward, in our efforts to wisely manage America's natural resources. Most important, it ViTould touch off a terrible erosion of the freedom traditionally cssociated with the West. |
