Show ARCHITECTS KNOW Shane Sumison, Scott Bingham, Jeffrey Tuft, (Julio Bermudez) (Libby Haslam) (Al Smith) College of Architecture and Planning University of Utah Shane SurnisDn Architectural Studies Architects are not simply draftsmen, nor is architecture exclusively about design, modernity, popular movements, or materials. While these are important, they are only small parts of the Architecture Machine. Each part of this Machine represents the individual ar-eas of academic knowledge that an Architect not only must know, but must use daily. These machine parts or areas of academic knowledge are: Astrology, Anthropology, Audiology, Biology, Climatology, Cos-mology, Electrical engineering, Engineering, Fine Arts, Geology, Hydrometry, Mathematics, Meteorology, Political Science, Psy-chology, Physiology, Pyrology, Seismology, Sociology, Topology, Zoology. Although this seems like course offerings from a large University, this is just a small portion of the knowledge base of an Architect. So, it is understandable that Architects are vessels of knowledge. "But perhaps it will seem wonderful to inexperienced persons that human nature can master and hold in recollection so large a number of subjects." - Vitruvius Scott Bingham Architectural Studies Jeff Tuft Architectural Studies Faculty Sponser Albert Smith Faculty Sponser Libby Haslem |
