Show AIR POLLUTION MONITOR Cesar Caballero, Ai Mitsfuji (Al Smith) (Julio Bermudez) (Libby Haslam) College of Architecture and Planning, University of Utah Cesar Caballern Architectural Studies You are breathing your own poison. Plants convert carbon dioxide ' back to oxygen. Air pollution is caused by the release of carbon dioxide from human activities. These gas releases are higher than what the world's plants can process. Releasing excess amount of carbon dioxide results in temperature inversion, acid rain, green house effect, and ozone depletion. Our machine tries to represent human impact in the air. The par-ticles in the machine represent air pollution. They can be con-trolled with your hand by static. It gives an idea of air pollution floating in the air. The purpose of this machine is to make people feel responsible for their daily activities such as driving, and using air conditioning. Smog has become a serious issue in Salt Lake City. It is due to excessive usage of products that release carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide created by driving is one of the most influential causes of smog. Hopefully people who see and try this machine will be more considerate about what they are doing in the environment.
