Show Faculty vs. Engineers QUITE a row those engineers kicked up, eh? They imposed a fine of one artistic haircut on any engineer that showed up for school work on election day. Borquist came up and was stopped. He immediately pulled out a concealed weapon in the shape of a young two-by-four, and swatted Heine Richardson on the place where the hair ought to grow. Heine and Stubby Loorborrow trimmed the offender's hair in a manner that was most becoming, and the whole matter was considered settled. But, sorry to say, Borquist made complaint to the Faculty, and Stubby was forthwith suspended indefinitely. A mass meeting of engineers was called and the discipline committee was present. The engineers tried to persuade the committee to> recall their sentence, but the committee stood very, very pat. A walk-out was discussed and passed upon, but the response was not very enthusiastic. Several men reported to the Faculty that they were implicated, and they were let out to join Stubby. Among these were Heine, Karrick, and Walker. The engineers were certainly headed in wrong. They showed their good judgment in not walking out, because they had everything to lose and absolutely nothing to gain. The incident made the Faculty more respected by the engineers, and also showed this moral in a very clear light: Be sure you're on the right track and then pull the throttle wide open. .^.4 * _ ( 203 ) |
